ICAN Appoints New Members to Board of Directors
Utica, NY – Integrated Community Alternatives Network (ICAN) announces the appointment of four new board members: Anthony Brindisi, Iris Buczkowski, Dr. Keith Levatino and Latavius Murray.
These four will lend their expertise and talent in assisting with governance and guidance for the fast growing non-profit. ICAN is a unique home and community-based network that provides individualized and non-traditional services and care to the highest risk individuals and families with social, emotional, mental health and behavioral challenges. ICAN services are provided at home, in schools and in the communities.
“The expansion of the board with these quality, mission-driven individuals will position us for continued growth and opportunities throughout the Mohawk Valley and beyond,” shares ICAN CEO/Executive Director Steven Bulger. “At ICAN, we strive to build teams which value innovation, quality of service and family at all levels of our organization, including our Board of Directors. The four new board members are:
Anthony Brindisi
U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of New York
Anthony Brindisi is a Utica native who brings experience from an accomplished career as a lawyer, elected official and judge to the board.
He was born in Utica, earned his Bachelor of Arts from Siena College and his J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University. He began his career at Brindisi, Murad & Brindisi Pearlman LLP as a litigation associate, was named a partner in 2008 and appointed of counsel in 2014.
In 2011, Brindisi was elected Assemblyman to represent New York’s 119th State Assembly District and in 2018, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving New York’s 22nd Congressional District. He served until 2021 and then returned to the law firm as a partner until 2022 when he was appointed as a judge on the New York State Court of Claims in Utica. In 2024, he served as an acting supreme court justice in Oneida County and in late 2024 was appointed as a Federal District Court Judge of the Northern District of New York.
Iris Buczkowski
CEO, Birch Wealth Management
Iris brings a wealth of financial expertise and advocacy to her role as a new board member for ICAN.
She is the owner of Birch Wealth Management and has been a financial planner for over 23 years. She built her business from the ground up offering personalized financial advice that helps her clients achieve their goals and navigate the complexities of wealth management by understanding their family lives and unique goals.
She has a passion for advocating for autism awareness and inclusion, volunteering for several local not-for-profit agencies, gardening, musical theater, and cheering on the Rochester Americans or Buffalo Sabres.
Iris has a Bachelors of Business Administration, Finance and a Masters of Business Administration, Technology Management from SUNY Polytechnic Institute. She and her husband Ted have lived in Rome, NY for two decades and have three very active children.
Dr. Keith Levatino
Superintendent of Schools, Little Falls City School District
Dr. Levatino brings experience from an extensive and award-winning career in education to the ICAN board, and an expert perspective as ICAN expands essential services into additional school districts.
Dr. Levatino was named the Little Falls City School District Superintendent in 2015, currently overseeing a district made up of 1,050 students and 200 faculty. He is also a SUNY Poly College Council Trustee and previously served as an adjunct lecturer at Utica University.
His experience expands across multiple, diverse school districts. He was the Principal at the Perry Junior High School in New Hartford for 12 years prior to Little Falls and also spent two summers as the Summer High School Principal at Madison BOCES in Verona. He was the Principal at Strough Junior High School in Rome and an Assistant High School Principal at Rome Free Academy in Rome. His love for teaching started when he was a Special Education Teacher at Strough.
He and his wife Leigh have four children: Ashley, Kyle, Kevin and Lauren.
Latavius Murray
Founder, The Jon Diaz Community Center
Latavius Murray brings a unique mix of expertise and perspectives to the ICAN board as a former professional athlete, experience in business, a non-profit founder and love for community.
He is a former professional running back in the National Football League (NFL), recently announcing his retirement in July, 2025. He played for the Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of Central Florida (UCF) and in 2020, he earned an MBA from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management of Syracuse University.
Even while paying, Latavius seamlessly transitioned into the business world as the Chief Brand Officer for Enduraphin, a startup nutrition company. He played a crucial role in fundraising, marketing, and product development, leveraging his unique perspective as an athlete to drive brand success and community engagement.
He is the founder of The Jon Diaz Community Center in Nedrow, NY – which will serve as a hub of transformative opportunities, wellness and recreation for the youth and families in the CNY area where he grew up. The center is named for his longtime friend who was tragically killed by gun violence in 2016.
Latavius lives in Florida with his wife and five children.
ABOUT ICAN
Founded in 1997, ICAN is a unique home and community-based network that provides individualized and non-traditional services and care to the highest risk individuals and families with social, emotional, mental health and behavioral challenges. ICAN’s team of close to 400 staff consisting of care managers, service coordinators, social workers, support specialists, clinical staff and an extensive Independent Practice Association (IPA) of 300+ providers work together to provide a platform for support, family reunification and preservation to over 2,500 individuals and families each day – prenatally through end of life.
ICAN also oversees the Utica Children's Museum and operates Elevate CNY Sports Complex in Westmoreland. ICAN will also be the Operational Partner for The Jon Diaz Community Center in Nedrow with a planned opening in 2027.
