Utica, NY –The Workforce Development Board of Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida Counties, Inc. (WDB/HMO) is sponsoring a paid 15-week training program for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades.
The Mohawk Valley Build (MV Build) Pathways to Apprenticeship program provides classroom and hands-on experience, a nationally recognized credential, and an opportunity to enter a union apprenticeship upon completion of the program.
The program runs from September 8, 2025 to December 22, 2025, with classes being held 3 days per week, from 5:00PM – 8:30PM.
“MV Build equips local residents for high-demand careers in the skilled trades,” says Project Director Meghan McBennett. “The program offers individuals the opportunity to gain in-demand skills—including construction math, blueprint reading, and hands-on experience with hand and power tools, and industry-recognized certifications. This 15-week, 140-hour course prepares participants for direct entry into the skilled trades through union-sponsored apprenticeship pathways.
“Participants earn while they learn, making success achievable and offering a viable path to economic stability for individuals and their families, while also contributing to the growing workforce needs of the Mohawk Valley. This is more than just a training program—it's an investment in families and in the future of the Mohawk Valley.”
